is serious business. Unless you have freaking good connections with the right people, then this is moot. But that’s not the case here, is it? Else I wouldn’t be surfing the WoW forums and several guilds’ websites during the weekly maintainences. Mhmm.
With the recruitment section of most guild’s website being open forums, anyone can just hop over to read them – several are actually pretty entertaining. So yeah, earlier today, I was just browsing reading through several of them and hell… it scares me.
It’s almost like you’re treated as a total village idiot applying for a elite school where only the rich and intelligent go to. Explain this. Explain that. Why gem this? Why didn’t you do that? Will you be willing to change this if we’re not happy for it? Why spec this? Why not spec that? What do you do when the moon crosses with the sun and the clouds block part of the sun but the moon shines through the cloud… alright wait, I made the last one up. But it’s pretty close.
It’s not easy to answer. Especially when some might already have a biased opinion of you. Especially when you’re waaaaaay too lazy (to level your professions, to grind rep to get shoulder enchants, to get gold and get the best enchants out there, etc).
Then again, it’s not thaaaaaat hard to do a good guild application. Just read and don’t answer like a total moron. 3 tips :
1) Use proper english. Do not type liek the wayz i iz typing nao or j00 do not getz guild invite.
2) Explain. In details. Lots and lots of details.
3) Have a good, clean UI. With the right addons.
4) Bonus : have done raids pre-WOTLK. Especially Sunwell and whatever else. Before nerf.
5) Bonus bonus : Apply these skills to RL. You’d be able to get any job you’re being interviewed for.

Note to self : Grind sons of Hodir rep, get enchants, pretend you have Sunwell experience pre-nerf (can do!), read Elitist Jerks everyday (in progress!), be on top of your game (already trying!).
